A vintage Wolves performance sent United out in the quarter-finals
Manchester United were knocked out of the FA Cup by Wolves on Saturday evening, denying Ole Gunnar Solskjaer a trip to Wembley in his first season in charge.
The first half passed everyone by with very few events of note, but the game came to life in the second half, with three goals and one red card overturned thanks to the Video Assistant Referee.
Wolves striker Raul Jimenez opened the scoring for the home side, executing a powerful shot on the turn inside the box despite being surrounded by half the United side.

Romero, who played well for the most part, was not given a chance to stop it as the ball flashed past him.
Jimenez’s partner in crime, Diogo Jota, then doubled Wolves’ lead with an emphatic finish, which proved to be decisive.

There was controversy in the second half as Victor Lindelof was initially shown a red card by Martin Atkinson for a late sliding tackle on Jota, only for the Video Assistant Referee to overrule his decision. Replays showed that while Lindelof went through Jota with force, he did get a chunk of the ball without endangering his opponent.
Marcus Rashford bagged a consolation goal deep into stoppage time with a strike that was eerily similar to Jimenez’s opener, but it wasn’t enough.
Wolves will join Watford, Manchester City and the winner of Millwall vs Brighton in the semi-finals of this season’s FA Cup.
Watford beat Crystal Palace earlier on Saturday 2-1 while Manchester City overturned a two goal deficit against Championship side Swansea to win 3-2 at the Liberty stadium.
Millwall play Brighton at the Den on Sunday afternoon.
