Manchester United need to start winning sharpish.
As they head to Swansea, they’re already ten points from the Premier League summit with their form woefully inconsistent since Jose Mourinho took charge of the team over summer.
Having failed to score from a record breaking 37 shots against Burnley last Saturday, a midweek defeat to Fenerbahce has left their hopes of qualifying for the Europa League knockout stages far from certain.
With the injuries racking up for United in recent weeks and Ander Herrera missing due to suspension, Mourinho had some difficult decisions to make ahead of the trip to the Liberty Stadium.
One of those decisions was to hand Phil Jones his first start of the season in a defence which also sees Ashley Young at left-back. Marcos Rojo keeps his place in the heart of the defence with Matteo Darmian also starting at right back. Luke Shaw is nowhere to be seen in the squad, with Daley Blind named on the United bench.
In midfield, Michael Carrick returns to the side as does Marouane Fellaini, with Paul Pogba recovering from the injury he picked up in Turkey on Thursday to start.
That defence though…
