Manchester United’s route to the Champions League has become a little clearer before Friday’s draw.
After securing a top-four spot last season, a two-legged qualification tie is all that stands between Louis van Gaal’s side and a return to Europe’s premier club competition… but things might not be as straightforward as they hoped.
United will probably want to avoid a long trip to Russia to face CSKA Moscow, and won’t relish the thought of facing Italian side Lazio. Monaco, who defeated Arsenal in last year’s competition, could also be a stern task.
Other options include Club Brugge of Belgium and Austrian side Rapid Vienna.
