Manchester United’s squad for the derby appears to confirm another key injury

Another blow for United

JOE

Considering you’ve bothered to click though to this, you’ll probably know damn well that Thursday night will see the final Manchester derby of the season.

Whereas we’ll have to wait a while longer before finding out which Manchester City players will be part of their match day squad, we now have a clearer picture as to who will be involved for United.

As is usually the case on the eve of a match, United’s first team players and staff have gathered at Manchester’s Lowry Hotel. According to Samuel Luckhurst of the Manchester Evening News, the following players were all present.

Goalkeepers:

David de Gea, Sergio Romero, Joel Pereira

Defenders:

Antonio Valencia, Timothy Fosu-Mensah, Matteo Darmian, Eric Bailly, Axel Tuanzebe, Daley Blind, Luke Shaw

Midfielders:

Marouane Fellaini, Michael Carrick, Ander Herrera, Ashley Young, Jesse Lingard

Attackers / Forwards:

Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, Wayne Rooney

Arguably the biggest taking point is that Paul Pogba appears to be out of the game after being substituted during the final minutes of the 2-0 win at Burnley on Sunday. Mourinho also appears to have ruled him out during his press conference too. As we all know, Mourinho is absolutely not the type of man to play mind games with rival managers so we can all be completely certain that the French international will not feature.
