Marcus Rashford approves Man Utd bio change as Sancho arrives

Finally, then, it’s done: Jadon Sancho is a Manchester United player, completing his switch from Borussia Dortmund for £73m.

It’s been a long time coming. United were strongly linked with him for the duration of last summer, only for Dortmund to refuse to budge on their asking price.

After confirmation the two clubs had arranged a deal arrived during the Euros, both clubs have announced the deal has now been completed.

The news will be welcomed by Marcus Rashford, Sancho’s friend and England teammate, who appeared – to some, at least – to have prematurely announced the transfer via Twitter a few weeks ago.

After one of his followers instructed him to ‘announce Sancho’, Rashford’s reply of ‘Yes x’ was widely shared before being deleted shortly after being published.

United referenced Rashford’s tweet when announcing Sancho’s arrival, also adding it to their Twitter bio.

Rashford was quick to acknowledge this, too, complimenting the bio change soon after.

United have also confirmed that Sancho will wear the number 25 shirt at Old Trafford, despite some reports suggesting he would take the number seven from Edinson Cavani.

Cavani signed a one-year contract extension at United towards the end of the season, meaning Sancho could inherit the seven in time for his second season back in England.

The former Manchester City forward’s arrival at United could now be followed by the departure of Paul Pogba. The French midfielder has reportedly rejected a contract extension from United and, with a year left to run on his current deal, could now be sold by United to avoid leaving for a free in 12 months.

Paris Saint-Germain have been heavily linked with a move for him, with United said to be open to offers of over £50million.
