Marouane Fellaini is officially no longer a Manchester United player

Marouane Fellaini has left Manchester United on a permanent transfer to Chinese Super League side Shandong Luneng Taishan FC

Fair well, sweet prince

Marouane Fellaini has left Manchester United.

That will be music to the ears of many United fans, who have grown tired of seeing long balls pumped in his direction during the last ten minutes of matches over the past few years.

But it is not his fault that he is the player he is. Fellaini has made the most of his limited skillset and kept himself in the first team picture under three different managers.

He does sort of epitomise United’s banter era post-Ferguson, which fans will hope has come to and end now with the appointment of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, but should he be blamed for the club’s shortcomings? No.

Let’s remember the good times. That dribble against Bayern Munich, the countless headers in the dying moments to steal a point and keep Jose Mourinho in a job for another few weeks. The elbows.

He wasn’t perfect, but he did his best.

Good luck in China with Shandong Luneng Taishan FC, Marouane. The Premier League will miss you.
