Maybe Memphis just needs the game time, but this looks more like a kick up the arse for the Dutchman.
The Dutchman was slaughtered by Manchester United fans for his role in Chelsea’s equaliser on Sunday, and it appears Louis van Gaal reckons Memphis Depay could use a bit of a wake-up call as well.
The former PSV attacker was pilloried for giving the ball away as the clock ticked down at Stamford Bridge in the lead-up to Diego Costa’s leveller, and his reward for that brief but impactful substitute’s appearance is a run-out for the Red Devils’ Under-21 side against Norwich on Monday evening.
