Michael Carrick’s testimonial saw an unbelievable teamsheet balls-up

Did Trump type the names?

Michael Carrtick. You know him. You love him.

You might remember him better as Michael Carrick.

Well, the Manchester United midfielder’s testimonial takes place at Old Trafford today. You may have heard.

And when you look at the names who will take to the pitch for the post-season spectacle which will mark the 11 years that Carrick has spent with the club, you will probably recognise that his is one of the easier names.

If Eidur Gudjohnsen’s name or Mikael Silvestre’s name had been misspelled, it wouldn’t have been the craziest thing in the world.

But, as the below teamsheet shows, it was the star of the show who saw his name spelled incorrectly.

Maybe we should just give United the benefit of the doubt and suggest that they’re referring to Carrick by a behind-the-scenes nickname that only those involved with the club are privy to.

But, if it is no more than a balls-up, it seems all the more unfortunate given the fact that Carrick’s younger brother Graeme was named on the bench for Sir Alex Ferguson’s 2008 XI.

And his name was spelled absolutely perfectly.

Carrtick doesn’t strike us as the type of guy who will be upset by something like that as he will just want to get on with the football.

Carrtick is good like that.
