The internet: occasionally not being a hellscape and bringing people together
In January of this year Sheffield United striker celebrated a goal against Norwich with a celebration which paid tribute to WWE legend Mick Foley, and specifically his character Mankind.
After scoring that goal, which secured a point for the Blades, Sharp pulled out his version of Mankind’s finishing move Mr. Socko and waved it around for all to see.

The celebration thankfully received the approval of Foley who described it as tremendous. Shortly afterwards, Foley revealed that he had accepted an invitation from Sharp to attend Sheffield United’s game against Brentford on Tuesday, March 12.
As you may be aware, Tuesday, March 12 happens to be this very day, and as such it was a wonderful sight to see Sharp tweet a photograph of the two of them this morning in what has to be one of the most ambitious crossovers since that time Steven Seagal revealed he was suddenly best mates with Vladimir Putin.
He said: “Big Mick Foley is in the house, in my house to be exact. It’s a bit surreal to have breakfast with a true wrestling legend.”
We’re not quite sure how to feel about seeing perhaps the greatest Football League striker of all time enjoying a delicious breakfast with one of the world’s greatest ever wrestlers, but we think we’re keen.
Next up: Bret ‘The Hitman’ Hart joins David Nugent for brunch.
