Record World Cup goalscorer Miroslav Klose has announced his retirement from football.
Klose, who scored 16 goals in World Cup tournaments has said he will now join the Germany National Team’s coaching staff.
“We’re looking forward to Miro,” said Germany Head Coach Joachim Löw. “I am sure that we coaches, just like the players, will benefit very much from his presence and involvement.
“He will not just be with us on the training field, but also contribute his views to preparing for opponents and to game and video analysis.”

A two-time Bundesliga winner with Bayern Munich, and a World Cup winner in 2014, Klose most recently played for Lazio up until the end of the 2015/16 season.
Renowned for his aerial ability and goal-poaching prowess, Klose concluded his international career with 71 goals in 137 appearances, making him Germany’s record goalscorer.
He was fond a little somersault when he scored too.

Upon announcing his retirement and move into coaching, Klose said, “I celebrated my greatest successes in the national team and this was a wonderful time which remains unforgettable.
“That is why I’m delighted to return to the DFB. In the past few months, I have thought a lot about continuing my playing career, but also about looking at new avenues, namely becoming a coach.”
