The post is Salah’s first since being recorded using his phone while driving

It is a day since Mohamed Salah was referred to police by his employers, Liverpool Football Club, after being recorded using his phone while driving by a supporter.

The incident reportedly took place shortly after Liverpool’s 4-0 Premier League win against West Ham United on Sunday, in which Salah scored his side’s opening goal.

The video, which can be seen below, appears to show Salah driving slowly through traffic while his car is surrounded by supporters asking for autographs.

After referring the Egyptian international to Merseyside Police, Liverpool released a statement on the matter:

“The club, after discussion with the player, have made Merseyside Police aware of the footage and the circumstances surrounding its capture. We have spoken to the player also and will deal with any follow-up internally. Neither the club or player will be making any further comment on this matter.”

Salah had himself remained quiet on the matter and hadn’t posted on social media between Sunday evening and much of Monday.

On Monday night however the PFA Player of the Year posted an image of himself running at speed on Twitter.

The post has provoked outpourings of support from Liverpool supporters and Egyptian fans who clearly feel the tweet is related to the weekend’s phone incident.
