We knew. We all knew.
As soon as we looked up the Sunday games and saw West Brom vs Middlesbrough was the 1.30pm kick off, we knew it was never going to be a cracker.
But even our worst fears were nothing as to how boring the match actually became.
With just two shots on target in the whole of the first half the game was peak Pulisball.
Tony P’s side managed to suck any and all excitement, thrill, entertainment or enjoyment out of the game, making fans wonder whey they bothered at all.
Plenty took to Twitter to voice their dissatisfaction – and the head of scheduling at Sky Sports came in for a fair bit of stick as well.
Some people were trying to be optimistic:
Ah…

But it didn’t take long for the Pulisball nature of the match to be revealed:

Some just couldn’t work it out:
The F1 is more exciting than the football. We're clearly living in some complex reverse universe today

And some wanted retribution:
This #WBAMID game is an actual crime against football. Absolutely brutal.

Channel 5 will probably make this:
I'd rather watch a documentary about Andy Murray's favourite takeaway leaflets #WBAMID

But mostly, people were just incredibly bored by the whole affair:

Even the atmosphere didn’t escape criticism:
