“A year is a very long time to wait for someone to make good on a promise…”
Manchester United Supporters Trust (MUST) have said they are ‘deeply frustrated and disappointed’ by the amount of time being taken by the Glazer family to introduce a Fan Share Scheme (FSS).
As part of a bid to appease angry supporters following the fierce protests which forced the collapse of the European Super League last year, Joel Glazer promised that United would introduce a scheme which would allow fans to own shares and build a meaningful stake in the club.
"We spent plenty of money. We just sucked. We made bad decisions. But the Glazers definitely spent money."

MUST are ‘deeply frustrated and disappointed’
A United spokesperson said earlier this month that significant progress had been made on the matter, but the complicated nature of the project meant more work was required before a proposal which was attractive to supporters was finalised.
In a letter sent to supporters on Tuesday afternoon, MUST expressed their disappointment that, a year on from the Super League debacle, progress with FSS had been so slow.
“This was a promise made by Joel Glazer personally in the aftermath of the ESL and now one year on we have still to agree a scheme,” the letter reads.
“We are deeply frustrated and disappointed by the pace of the progress on the FSS. Of course the ESL anniversary is an artificial milestone, but nevertheless a year is a very long time to wait for someone to make good on a promise.
“We have discussions with the Club which will cover the FSS over the coming weeks, at which point we will determine next steps in full consultation with members.”
More protests against the Glazers
On the pitch, United beat relegation-threatened Norwich 3-2 at the weekend. The game was preceded by a protest against the Glazer family’s ownership by The 1958 group.
Thousands of United supporters joined the protest, which saw many match-going supporters remain outside the ground until the 17th minute – one minute to represent every year of Glazer ownership.
