They beat West Ham 4-0
So, the first game of the 2018-19 Premier League season is upon us as Manchester United play Leicester City at Old Trafford tonight.
Following Manchester United’s calamitous pre-season, Jose Mourinho’s men face a tough challenge in Leicester City.
Although Leicester are now without Riyad Mahrez, Claude Puel has strengthened the team Jonny Evans and James Maddison, while the Reds are without Antonio Valencia, Marcos Rojo, Diogo Dalot, Ander Herrera and Nemanja Matic through injury.
But even if tonight’s match could prove difficult for United, they can at least take solace in the fact recent history shows they usually kick off the league in style, back in 2016 they beat Bournemouth away and last season they emerged 4-0 winners against West Ham.
In football terms at least, it seems a long time ago since their opening win last season and the line-up will be much changed for tonight’s game. The question is, though, how well do you remember that match against the Hammers on 12 August 2017?
We’re giving you three minutes to name the team’s starting XI.
Good luck…
