‘I think it’s actually a harder job that what Guardiola’s done at Man City’
Gary Neville has suggested that Jurgen Klopp has had a harder job at Liverpool than Pep Guardiola has had at Manchester City.
Klopp was appointed Reds boss in 2015, replacing Brendan Rodgers at the helm. Since the German arrived at Anfield, he has won five major honours including the Premier League, Champions League and Carabao Cup.
On the other hand, Guardiola – who was appointed City manager in February 2016 ahead of the start of the 2016/17 season – has won eight major honours, including the Premier League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup.
Complete domination
Liverpool and City are being touted as the two best sides in world football and it’s easy to see why. Over the course of the last four Premier League seasons, no other team has accumulated more points than the two at the top.
A Twitter user posted a picture of the Premier League table across the last four seasons – recording every point picked up by sides competing in the top-flight during that time.

City and Liverpool are practically neck and neck with each other – City leading by just one point with 338 points in comparison to Liverpool’s 337.
The pair’s closest challenger is Chelsea, who are some 76 points away from even being level with Klopp’s reds – further documenting the gulf in glass City and Liverpool have against the rest of the Premier League.
Neville believes Klopp’s job has been ‘harder’
While the two teams have accumulated a similar amount of points since the two respective managers have been in charge, former Manchester United defender Neville believes Klopp’s job has been ‘harder’.

Speaking on Sky Sports ahead of the clash between the two sides at the Etihad Stadium, Neville said: “The job that Jurgen Klopp has done at Liverpool is absolutely incredible, it’s unbelievable, I think it’s actually a harder job than what Pep Guardiola has done at Manchester City.
“Pep Guardiola is a genius, I think he’s transformed football and he will go down in history as someone that has designed a way of playing the game, and people followed – that is unbelievable in itself.
“But then for Jurgen Klopp to go to Liverpool, in the position that they were in, to be competing with this Manchester City team, with the transfer budget that he’s had, is absolutely out of this world.”
Potential title decider
City welcome Liverpool to the Etihad later today (Sunday 10 April), hoping to increase their lead over Klopp’s men to four points, whereas the Reds will be hoping to go two points above Guardiola’s side and top of the table.
