There’s reportedly a new frontrunner to replace Louis van Gaal at Manchester United

Poor Louis

Diego Simeone is being touted as the next Manchester United manager, with Louis van Gaal seemingly keeping the seat warm for about 15 potential replacements.

The pressure the Dutchman is under at Old Trafford is no secret and Atletico Madrid boss, Simeone, has apparently jumped to the front of that long line to take over in Manchester.

Jose Mourinho is still the bookies’ favourite to take Van Gaal’s post while Pep Guardiola would be the choice of most United fans, along with those at Man City and Chelsea.

But La Liga and Europa League-winning coach Simeone, who also guided Atletico to the Champions League final in 2013, will excite a large section of United supporters.

Manchester United v Chelsea - Premier League

The Sun are reporting that the United squad ‘believe Diego Simeone will be their new boss’, quoting a source as saying: “All the betting may be on Mourinho coming in but the talk among the players is all about Simeone.”

The 45-year-old might not speak English but he has upset the Real Madrid-Barcelona duopoly in Spain and already has a Europa League and UEFA Super Cup title under his belt after just five years with the capital city outfit.
