It appears as though Thomas Müller is staying put for the foreseeable future.
The German World Cup winner was thought to be one of Manchester United’s top transfer targets for the summer as Louis van Gaal tried his hardest to find a marquee player.
However, it looks like any hopes of Müller signing for the Red Devils in the near future have taken a major blow, as German broadcasterSPORT1 report that he has signed a contract to remain at Bayern Munich until 2021.
Despite being one of Munich’s star players this season, he had been perpetually linked with a move away from the Bundesliga behemoths, with Old Trafford seen as the likely destination.
However, Müller has now committed his future to Bayern, alongside Jerome Boateng and Javi MartÃnez, who also signed contract extensions to 2021.
And the news that Xabi Alonso also extended his contract until 2017 will come as a setback to Liverpool supporters that had hopes the Spaniard would return to Anfield.
