Nicola Adams’ US debut will have to wait.
The two-time Olympic gold medallist was set to fight for the first time on American soil this weekend on the undercard of one of the biggest shows of the year – Gennady Golovkin vs. Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez but her clash with Alexandra Vlajk has been called off at the last minute.
Vlajk failed her pre-fight medical, meaning that the fight with Leeds’ Adams had to be pulled from the bill.
The bout would have been Adams’ third as a professional, having claimed two victories already this year after deciding to leave the amateur scene in January.
But the 34-year-old has taken the news well, reacting like the utter pro she is despite the devastating and short-notice element of the update.

We’re sure promoter Frank Warren will reschedule something for Adams soon and that American viewers will be treated to their first taste of ‘The Lioness’ will not be too far off.
