Nike release limited edition Premier League and PSG NFL jerseys

Well, these are nice aren’t they?

Football has always been a part of culture. Football clubs have traditionally been at the epicentre of their communities, and their stadiums a place for locals to congregate something they all loved.

As the years have gone past, that local connection has died away a touch, while football’s place in global popular culture has just risen and risen. This is is not evidently merely in the popularity of the sport, but in its place in areas of culture such as celebrity and fashion.

Paris Saint-Germain – who often host the likes of Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid at the Parc des Princes – are the best example of this, but elsewhere too we see increasing crossovers between football and fashion.

It appears that this is what Nike had in mind when they decided to release a limited line of NFL jerseys officially licensed for Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Paris Saint-Germain.

The jerseys are pretty much identical in style to the current Nike NFL jerseys but – naturally – with the team’s own colours and designs featured.

One would assume that they have chosen to create jerseys for two London teams due to the NFL’s connection with the city where it plays a number of overseas matches every year.

Why have they chosen PSG? Well, PSG are deemed cool and people like to buy cool things.
