The connection between Liverpool and Norway dates back decades
Liverpool, as one of the most successful football clubs in English history, are naturally well-supported. But what many people don’t know is that the club has a particularly passionate fan base in Norway.
Starting out in the 1970s when English football (and particularly Liverpool) matches were aired on Norwegian television, the club’s fanbase in the country has grown in number and in fervour.
JOE traveled to Anfield and to Hotel TIA ahead of a recent game to speak to some Norwegian fans, and find out what it is about Liverpool that has captured the imagination of so many people in the country.
“It’s the biggest fan club for any team. They have 50,000 members and Norway only has 5 million people.”
Norway and @LFC have a special connection that dates back nearly 50 years. For the patrons of @Hotel_TIA, it’s still going strong every match day 🇳🇴🤝🔴 pic.twitter.com/fOpDAYjzrD
