San Marino have long been the whipping boys of Europe.
These poor bastards turn up every game and get tanked 7-0, 10-0 and even 13-0 against Germany in 2006.
Their record is abysmal – in 60 games, they’ve lost 58 and drawn just two.
But even worse than that, the tiny nation, which has a population of 33,000, hasn’t managed to score an away goal in World Cup qualification in 15 years. FIFTEEN fucking years. Now *that’s* a goal drought that makes even Eden Hazard look prolific.
So you can imagine the scenes of unbridled joy when they somehow managed to find the net against Norway to make it 1-1 in Tuesday night’s game.
Just look at the scenes when Matia Stefanelli spanked that home from inside the box. Magical…

But just as England getting spanked by European minnows Iceland at Euro 2016 was awful beyond compare, just imagine being the side that San Marino broke their away goal duck against.
You’d be shitting livid, right? Right. The pundits in a TV studio back in Norway didn’t take San Marino’s unlikely equaliser very well.
We’re not sure what they’re saying, but it’s probably not gentle words of magnanimous praise for the plucky San Marino boys.

Norway did go on to win the game a comfortable 4-1, but San Marino will savour that away goal for years to come…maybe another 15.
People were quick to point out that while San Marino were beaten, they managed to find the net unlike England in their 0-0 draw with Slovenia.
At least San Marino scored 😂😂😂

The last time – before tonight – that San Marino scored in an away World Cup qualifier, Wayne Rooney was 15. #WCQ
