Nuno Espirito Santo sent off for enjoying himself after Wolves claim late win against Leicester

Sometimes football officials just need to relax

When your football team scores a winning goal it’s understandable that you will probably be very happy. You may jump in the air with your arms flying around or punch the air. It’s a normal thing to do.

Football is about joy, at the end of the day. Sometimes that is forgotten in the pile up of everything else that encompasses modern professional football but really it’s about watching the team you support succeed and the release of seeing them do so.

This joy was in full flow at Molineux on Saturday as Wolves defeated Leicester City in a thrilling match which saw the hosts come out on top with a 4-3 victory.

The game was end to end with horrific defending and some lovely goals, the last of which was courtesy of striker Diogo Jota who capped off a lethal performance with a hat-trick.

That goal, which came in the final minute of added time and was aided in no small part by a lovely Ruben Neves pass and dreadful Foxes defending, sent the Wolves fans into raptures.

It also provoked a delighted reaction from manager Nuno Espirito Santo, who ran down the touchline and joined his players as they mobbed Jota on the ground.

It was lovely to see, a manager and his players celebrating one of the best feelings in football.

He was then quickly sent off by the referee which was, admittedly, a correct enforcement of the rules of the game. Unfortunately, it is also stupid and sucks the joy out of a cracking moment.
