The incident occurred in 2017
Odsonne Edouard has paid the victim of a shooting incident that left him without hearing in one ear after Crystal Palace ordered their frontman to pay the charges.
The incident occurred in 2017 while the 22-year-old was on loan at Toulouse from Paris Saint-Germain.
Edouard was convicted of violence with a weapon after firing an air rifle at a pedestrian, but he ignored the initial £5,110 compensation charge from when he was sentenced.
This led the French Chamber of Civil Interests to order the striker to pay Francis Guiral, who was left deaf in one ear as a result of the incident, £20,036 in compensation.
“On February 11, 2017, I was walking quietly in the Busca district in Toulouse, when a car stopped,” said Mr Guiral. “The driver opened the window, I thought he wanted some information.
“I put my head to the window and there was a bang. I collapsed to the ground, my ear was bleeding. He looked at me without saying anything and then quietly moved away.”
After lawyers’ requests for the full compensation amount went without response, Mr Guiral took his case to French media.
When Toulouse president Damien Comolli put the victim in contact with Crystal Palace, the Eagles ensured that Edouard paid the full amount.
Speaking on the outcome of the incident, Guiral said:Â “Since we started this process, he’s played dead. Odsonne did not come to court and he had never paid the sum he is owed me for my care.
“I can no longer hear anything from that ear and I have lost my balance.
“Damien Comolli contacted me and promised to help and offered me support. He wrote that he was sorry I was in this position and about the physical and psychological consequences that I have to endure.
“He gave me an email address belonging to a member of Crystal Palace.
“And now it’s finally over.”
Edouard – who scored twice on his Palace debut – arrived at Selhurst Park in the summer after leaving Celtic in an £18m move on Deadline Day.
