Of course Harry Kane’s corners came up in Sam Allardyce’s first England training session

We doubt he'll be taking them again in a hurry

It seems Harry Kane won’t be able to forget about his corner-taking experiment in a hurry.

The Tottenham striker was on set piece duty for England in the Euro 2016 draw with Russia, never to return to the quadrant again, but his (to be honest, not even uniquely bad) deliveries have become a bit of a running joke.

And Kane has revealed that he has already been able to laugh at himself in training sessions under new national boss Sam Allardyce, noting that he doesn’t expect to find himself on corner duty any time soon.

“We had a bit of a laugh and a joke with the manager about it, but it’s something that happened,” Kane is quoted as saying by the BBC.

“I am happy to be in the box and hopefully I will get a goal for it.”

There is no word on whether Kane expects to be given free-kick responsibilities in the near future, after his effort late on in the defeat against Iceland was seen by many to sum up the Three Lions’ limp Euro 2016 exit.

The running corner kick joke was not ignored by those watching the 1-0 World Cup qualifying win over Slovakia, and after the Spurs frontman’s latest comments we’d imagine it won’t be the last time fans focus on the identity of the corner taker during an England international game.
