Let’s all hope that Saturday night is the last we see of Chuck Liddell in a cage
After eight years away from mixed martial arts, Liddell ill-advisedly dusted off his gloves last weekend in order to complete his trilogy with fierce rival Tito Ortiz on the Golden Boy Promotions MMA card.
Ortiz’s activity was rewarded as he brutally knocked ‘The Iceman’ out in the first round of their light heavyweight clash, earning his first win over Liddell in three attempts.
Two right hands from Ortiz made Liddell look every bit the 48-year-old as he faceplanted and had to be saved from further damage by referee Herb Dean.

Liddell has now been knocked out in four consecutive bouts and hopefully his family will stop the UFC legend from fighting again because his ability to take a punch has clearly deteriorated over time.
As for Ortiz, he looked in amazing shape for a 43-year-old and has lost just once in his last four outings.
‘The Huntington Beach Bad Boy’ insists that he is set to hang up his gloves after his victory over Liddell but, if he does, his final celebration wasn’t exactly seamless.
After starching Liddell, Ortiz broke out his iconic burial celebration but commission officials at the Forum in Inglewood, California obviously weren’t familiar with the move.

“I’m done,” Ortiz said at the post-fight press conference. “There is nobody left I want to fight. I just want to continue to help the sports grow as a promoter. I want to help give back to the fighters.”
