While the term ‘legend’ gets tossed about a little too freely in football these days, few would argue that Sir Bobby Charlton deserves to be described in such a way.
A survivor of the Munich Air Disaster in 1958, Charlton went on to win the lot with Manchester United and was also part of England’s World Cup winning team in 1966.
Having announced a few weeks ago that the club would rename Old Trafford’s South Stand in his honour, United held a short ceremony ahead of kick-off in their league clash with Everton as their newly-named stand was officially unveiled.
Ahead of it, home supporters formed an impressive mosaic in honour of their former number nine.
