Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Norwegian hometown of Kristiansund has paid tribute to the recently sacked Manchester United manager.

Solskjaer was relieved of his duties on Sunday morning following another humiliating defeat on Saturday, as they shipped four goals against relegation battlers Watford at Vicarage Road.

The writing had been on the wall for Solskjaer since United’s 4-0 loss to Liverpool a month ago, but the club dithered and waited until after the international break before finally admitting that it was time for a change.

Tributes have been pouring in from United fans over the past 24 hours, with Solskjaer also conducting a heartfelt interview with the club’s social media channels in which he bid an emotional farewell to the fans.

And the latest grand tribute comes from Solskjaer’s hometown of Kristiansund, where a ’20 Legend’ sign has been lit up on a hilltop, like a pound shop Hollywood sign;.

The love for Solskjaer among United fans, who appreciate his efforts as manager, as well as the adoring fans in his home country, is plain to see.

United players, past and present, have also been posting sincere tributes to their friend following the news of his dismissal. Gary Neville took to Twitter to thank his former team-mate for ‘restoring soul into the club’, stating: “Thank you Ole. You did us proud. The last two months were tough but before that you restored some soul into the club.”

As we know, he’ll always be there for him.
