There’s only one match that Harry Kane could return to play this season

Harry Kane has been ruled out for the season after suffering another ankle ligament injury against Manchester City in the Champions League

Those bloody ligaments again

It’s getting a bit worrying now, how every single season, at least once, Harry Kane suffers the exact same injury. While he always seems to recover and come back fitter than before, the regularity with which Kane damages the ligaments in his ankles is a growing concern for both Tottenham and England fans.

His most recent injury, sustained during Tottenham Hotspur’s Champions League quarter-final first leg against Manchester City, will likely rule Kane out for the remainder of the season, admits Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino.

“He feels sad and disappointed like everyone at the club. It’s a tough moment for him, the team and us,” Pochettino said on Friday.

“We need to assess him every day but [we need] to have proper answers to see when he possibly can start training with the team but today it is impossible to give a date.

“He suffered a similar injury last time against Manchester United and that took five weeks.”

Pochettino suggested that the only match Kane might be able to play this season is the Champions League final, which takes place in Madrid on June 1.

“If we arrive in the final of the Champions League maybe he would have the possibility to play, but we’ll see.

“We need to assess him but he’s not in a great place which is normal after a few days.”

This rough timeframe offers a glimmer of hope to England fans who are desperate to see Kane lead out the Three Lions in Portugal in the semi-finals of the inaugural UEFA Nations League campaign.

Spurs now face the daunting prospect of playing out the rest of their season without their bets player and only good striker. No offence, Fernando.

Dele Alli, meanwhile, broke his hand during the City tie and remains a doubt for Spurs’ game tomorrow against Huddersfield.
