He was the inspiration for the biggest giantkilling of the FA Cup third round, and now Kemar Roofe could be set for bigger and better things.
The Oxford United midfielder scored twice as the League 2 club stunned top-flight Swansea with a come-from-behind victory, and the 23-year-old is being linked with a move to the Premier League.
But Oxford boss Michael Appleton is doing all he can to put off potential suitors Newcastle United, insisting Roofe is not for sale.
“We are very confident we can keep him,” said Appleton, who worked with Roofe when the pair were together at West Bromwich Albion.
“At the end of the season it may be a different scenario depending on whether we get promoted or not but if you go in that dressing room no one wants to go anywhere anyway.”
