Pepe was sent off for violent conduct
Patrice Evra has said Ezgjan Alioski ‘deserves an Oscar’ for his reaction to Nicolas Pepe’s headbutt during Leeds’ 0-0 draw against Arsenal on Sunday afternoon.
Pepe was sent off for violent conduct in the 50th minute after he pushed his head into Alioski, who had been involved in several feisty duels with Pepe before tempers boiled over.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta condemned Pepe’s actions as “unacceptable” after the game, explaining that in the circumstances, a point is not a bad result.
Sky Sports pundit Patrice Evra also criticised Pepe’s actions, calling them “silly” but was also keen to highlight Alisoki’s part in his sending off.
“I think Pepe should say sorry to all his teammates,” Evra said.
“Alioski deserves an Oscar because the way he played it… He played it so well.
“If I was the Leeds coach, I would be so happy with Alisoki, but come on. He looked like he broke his nose.”
🗣 "Pepe, don't come and cry when you don't play the next game"
