Not the update Manchester United supporters wanted to hear.
Nobody from the club has officially come out and given a definitive timeline for Paul Pogba’s injury, a fact which was initially believed by some supporters to be a quintessential Jose Mourinho strategy.
More than a handful of optimistic fans leapt to the conclusion that Jose Mourinho’s tight lips on the matter meant that the United boss might spring a surprise and unleash the French midfielder for their clash with Liverpool in two weeks.

But, according to a report in the Telegraph on Friday morning, Pogba will be nowhere near ready to return in time for that fixture and, in fact, United may be without him for an additional month.
Pogba injured his hamstring during United’s Champions League group opener against Basel and the club are believed be consulting with Finnish muscle repair specialist Dr Sakari Orava on the most suitable recovery for their record signing.
The 24-year-old has not undergone surgery and is continuing his rehabilitation at Carrington but, apparently, he will not return to club action before the November international break.
If that is the case, as the Telegraph suggests, it means Pogba will play no part in the Red Devils’ upcoming clashes with Liverpool, Spurs and Chelsea while the first game after that international break will be a home game against Newcastle on November 18.
