Paul Pogba’s move to Manchester United took so long to complete because the France star was so upset about losing the Euro 2016 final, his agent has revealed.
The 23-year-old re-joined United from Juventus in early August after a long and protracted transfer saga that seemed to drag on for the whole summer.
And now his agent Mino Raiola has explained that he was not allowed to discuss any possible transfer with his client during the Euros, and that once they had finished Pogba took himself off on a month long holiday to get over the disappointment at losing to Portugal in the final of the tournament.
Pogba travelled to the USA, visiting Los Angeles, Miami, Las Vegas and New York, before returning to Manchester to complete his world record £89m transfer to Old Trafford.
Raiola told Telefoot: “Zidane wanted him at Real Madrid but there were another five or six clubs following him as well. Manchester United are now a lot stronger thanks to him, whilst Real Madrid are not.

“I never spoke about the market with Pogba whilst he was playing at the European Championship, and then he went on holiday because he was very disappointed.
“It was only when I arrived in Miami was it when things were put in motion. He explained to me what he wanted. Manchester is his home.”
Pogba made his Premier League debut with the club in the 2-0 home win over Southampton.
