Mathias Pogba was last in the news after being turned down by a German lower league side
Paul Pogba’s brother Mathias has finally found himself a new club for the first time since leaving Eredivisie side Sparta Rotterdam.
The 28-year-old, who was also played for English lower league sides Crewe Alexandra and Crawley Town during his career, has signed a contract with Ligue 2 side Tours.
The side, based in the west-central French city, play their football in the Championnat National, France’s third division.
The striker – who had a decent record (17 goals in 56 games) while playing for Crewe Alexandra – was close to signing with German minnows Uerdingen during the summer, but a move never materialised after concerns over his fitness.
“He’s been and gone. Mathias couldn’t help the team, he is currently not in good physical shape,” Uerdingen coach Stefan Kraemer said at the time as speculation began to grow that it was Pogba’s weight which had been a determining factor in the club’s decision.
The Guinea international’s signing now means that once again all the Pogba boys are now with professional clubs. One of his brothers, Florentin, plays for GençlerbirliÄŸi in Turkey, while his other brother, Paul, plays for English Premier League side Manchester United.
