Manchester United’s starting XI for the trip to Swansea might have seemed underwhelming, but they still had an £89m man in their midfield.
And when you’ve got an £89m man in your midfield, things like this can happen.
Paul Pogba has been rather hit-and-miss since rejoining the club for whom he made his professional debut, but he has scored a couple of screamers.
First there was the strike in the home victory over Fenerbahce in the Europa League, part of United’s dubious Goal of the Month competition for October.
United might have started the game with Phil Jones at centre-back, but that didn’t matter when Pogba fired an unstoppable shot past Lukasz Fabianski from the edge of the area.

And it didn’t take long for Zlatan Ibrahimovic – who had been going through a barren spell of his own – to double United’s lead in South Wales.
The Swede soon added a third to ensure Jose Mourinho’s team went into the break with a dominant lead, putting them on course for a return to the top six.
