Of all Louis van Gaal’s critics in recent months, Paul Scholes appears to have been one of the more vocal.
The former midfielder has rarely missed an opportunity to to take a swipe at van Gaal, delivering his brutally honest assessments of the football being served up by the current Manchester United side while working as a pundit for BT Sport.
However, despite his criticism of the United boss, it seems Scholes is willing to sacrifice his work in the media in order to return to the club he represented as a player.
The Manchester Evening News reports that the 41-year-old would welcome the chance to help rectify the mess of van Gaal’s reign, claiming Scholes has said privately that he is keen to work as a coach and manager in the future.
With United recently appointing former team-mate Nicky Butt as head of academy, it’s unlikely that Scholes will be welcomed back to the club while van Gaal remains as manager.
