Baller.
It’s impossible to dislike Atletico Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann. The Frenchman has almost reinvented the attacking role for modern footballers with a combination of a devastating eye for goal and an absolutely ferocious work ethic.
Last season, Griezmann was the chief architect of Atleti’s march to the Champions League final and the forward continued his blistering form into Euro 2016 where he finished top scorer after netting six goals, two of them memorably coming against Ireland in Lyon.
Diego Simeone could probably name his price for Griezmann, but after signing a new contract with the club, he’s not getting itchy feet to leave the Vicente Calderon.
Speaking of his feet, the striker’s choice of footwear was getting plenty of attention online after he ignored the more traditional suit and brogue approach at the UEFA Best Player in Europe awards, which took place after the draw for the Champions League group stages.
Hey, when you’re as good as Antoine Griezmann, you can wear whatever the hell you like. He does, after all, undoubtedly possess a certain je ne sais quoi.
But his silver numbers received a decidedly mixed reaction, bold choice as they may have been. Most people were either horrified or awestruck.
And Griezmann didn't win the award because his trousers are too short and those shoes are ugly. pic.twitter.com/cv3udVF0zq
