Pep Guardiola has defied the FA by wearing a yellow ribbon.

The FA charged the Manchester City manager earlier this week for wearing the ribbon at matches, claiming it breaches the kit and advertising regulations by making a political message.

Guardiola has been wearing the ribbon this season as a show of support for imprisoned Catalan politicians, and was spotted wearing it at Wembley for the Carabao Cup final between City and Arsenal.

Guardiola has previously said that he is prepared to risk FA punishment by wearing the ribbon.

“I do that because in Spain for two specific people who defend something like the vote, something the people in command do not agree, are in prison,” he said.

“To make a rebellion on something like that, you have to be something tough to be in prison. And they are still there. So, until they are not out, always here [points to ribbon] will be shared with me. Because, OK, they can suspend me for doing that, but the other people are in jail.”
