Pep Guardiola will stop at nothing in his bid to get his Manchester City players eating as healthily as humanly possible.
It became clear soon after his arrival at the Etihad that Guardiola wouldn’t stand for a lack of discipline on the pitch, in the gym or in the canteen.
Samir Nasri was the first to feel the power of the new manager’s iron fist as he was deemed overweight, pulled from the first team and ultimately sent on loan to Sevilla.
Under Guardiola, the diets of the City players underwent a complete overhaul and chocolate has been the latest sweet to be targeted as the former Barcelona boss has removed all chocolate treats from shops around the club.
Manchester Evening News reported on Thursday that Guardiola made chocolates and sugary snacks unavailable to purchase around City’s academy.
While the ban has not extended to the outright banning of chocolate (players and staff can still sneak outside goodies into the Etihad Campus without being pulled up), they will no longer be able to indulge themselves by buying a post-training treat.
Guardiola is a stickler for healthy-eating for his employees and he’s brought esteemed nutritionist Silvia Tremoleda along to prepare more nutritious meals for his players.
Tremoleda has worked with the likes of Lionel Messi who we hear is pretty good at football and Guardiola is hoping to see an improvement in players’ energy levels under her strict diet plans.

Tremoleda, a former triathlete and professional tennis player, knows what it takes to fuel the body at the elite level of sport and her work is already beginning to show with City players such as Yaya Toure and Sergio Aguero having noticeably lost weight in recent months.
Below is a selection of healthy meals from Tremoleda’s Instagram but we ask you this… Who on earth is going to eat quinoa on Easter?
