Designing kits requires innovation
Peruvian club Molinos El Pirata, which – you guessed it! – translates to ‘Molinos the pirate’, have asked Disney for permission to print an image of Captain Jack Sparrow from the Pirates of the Caribbean films on their jersey.
Molinos president Manuel Aguinaga explained that a request was sent to the American giant Disney to obtain authorisation to use the image of the fictional character played by Johnny Depp.
“The image of this pirate has been part of our campaign. We believe there should be no problems since their area is not football,” Aguinaga said, as reported by local newspaper ‘Depor’.
The club have already been wearing jerseys with Jack Sparrow’s face on it, but stopped doing so when they feared a lawsuit, prompting them to request permission.

Aguinaga has said there has still been no response from Disney about the request.
Molinos El Pirata, a club in the Lambayeque region of northern Peru, will play in 2019 in the national first division after winning the Copa Peru this year.
