Keep the signatures coming!
A petition for Monday to be a Bank Holiday reached over 120,000 signatures which means it has been moved to Parliament for discussions. Now, only two days after the semi-finals, the petition has hit a whopping 315,000 signatures.

The petition reads:
“It would be beneficial and sensible to give the country the day off the next day if England win, in the form of an extra Bank Holiday Monday.
“Sunday 8pm is a difficult time for families to plan to be together for the event – knowing we have an additional day off the next day would significantly help this. Furthermore, an historic win should be celebrated.
“It would be expected for the winning team to parade the trophy, and a Bank Holiday would be a perfect time to do this.
“Also, English people would naturally want to continue to enjoy the win, giving the retail and leisure industry a much-needed opportunity to make up lost revenues.”
I want Lockdown to end immediately and everything to open back up again as normal, restriction free. I don't want a Bank Holiday on Monday which will effectively shut businesses & schools, putting us all back into a tougher Lockdown for a day. @BBC3CR @JustinDealey

This news comes after Harry Kane successfully netted the winning shot following a questionable decision from the referee. Though UEFA has now charged England with fines, thousands are still debating the validity of England’s win. Regardless of the arguments, this is still a monumental moment in football history, as this is the first time England have reached the finals in 55 years.
What exactly is an "emergency" bank holiday? What's the emergency? Going to be attacked by a ravaging horde of angry Italians looking to steal away the trophy? Or the nation simply too hungover to go to work?

With numerous sources claiming the government are discussing the idea of a bank holiday, a spokesperson for Boris Johnson neither confirmed nor denied the claims:
“We would want businesses who feel able to consider it if they can, but we recognise it will vary depending on the business and company.”
and specifically on the subject of a bank holiday, the spokesperson said:
“The prime minister was asked that and he said it would be tempting fate and he wants to see what happens on Sunday, and I think that is the right approach.”
