Two Sadio Mané goals to the good inside 20 minutes, Liverpool remembered how to play football again in the first half against Tottenham.
The home side were dominant; the visitors were poor at the back and rarely had a sight of goal in the opening 45 minutes. And even when they did, Liverpool appeared to have all angles covered.
Perhaps their best opportunity in the first half came courtesy of this Christian Eriksen free-kick on the edge of the box.
As per usual, a wall of red shirts assembled to try and make the Dane’s task more difficult. But there was something a little bit different about this wall…
Behind it, Philippe Coutinho was seen crouching down – presumably to prevent Eriksen from attempting to fire underneath it when the other players jumped.
The reaction to his unusual position was mixed, although most seemed impressed.
Coutinho wall tactic brilliant

Coutinho kneeling down to stop the low drive that goes under the wall when everyone jumps. Very 2017

Coutinho kneeling behind the wall is genius 😂

Brilliant when Coutinho crouched behind the wall for that freekick so that they don't hit it from under there!😂😂

We’re by no means certain, but we’re pretty sure this was a Premier League first.
