Everton’s third kit for next season might be enough to make Ronald Koeman run for the hills

A sore sight for eyes

Darragh Murphy

It’s admirable that Everton have decided to match the colour of their new third kit with the famous tangerine tones of Ronald Koeman’s locks.

The Toffees are keen on tempting the Dutchman away from Southampton this summer as they aim to reinvigorate their squad following a disappointing 11th place finish under Roberto Martinez last season.

Koeman, meanwhile, guided the Saints to a sixth place finish, securing a spot in next year’s Europa League – meaning European football will be played at St Mary’s for the first time since the 2003/04 season when Gordon Strachan’s men were knocked out by Steaua Bucharest in the first round.

Whether or not Bill Kenwright will get his man remains to be seen, but one thing’s for sure and that’s that Everton’s rumoured third kit for the 2016/17 season is as awful as a strip can possibly be.

While third kits are seldom required in the Premier League, that doesn’t make this little number any less of an atrocity.

The picture was leaked by reliable football kit website FootyHeadlines who also claim that the strip will be topped off by bright orange shorts.

It will not be in high-demand among fans, that much we promise you, although Everton fans will be well used to hideous third strips after last season’s horrendous camouflage effort.
