Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero with a lovely gesture to a young fan that lost his father

A touch of class

Manchester City may have booked their place in the quarter-finals of the Capital One Cup following a 5-1 demolition of Crystal Palace at the Etihad, but the result pales in comparison when measured against the traumatic week that the Shaw family had to endure.

You may have heard the tragic news about Chris Shaw, a 35-year-old City fan who tragically died at the weekend following a brave battle with cancer.

The father-of-two from Droylsden, Tameside, passed away after being diagnosed with the disease just six months ago.

Man City fans decided to pay their own tribute to one of their own with this warm round of applause during the 35th minute of the match against Alan Pardew’s men.

The Shaw family were City’s guests of honour for the game but one player went the extra mile to make the trip a little bit more memorable.

Take a look at Man City’s Argentinian goal machine Sergio Aguero sitting beside Charlie Shaw, Chris’ oldest son.

Aguero is currently unavailable for selection after suffering a hamstring injury but it’s nice to see that he’s still a brilliant ambassador for the club after he helped to make a grief-stricken child’s evening that little bit more enjoyable.
