Monday Night Football is going to be a great laugh this season.
Gary Neville’s anticipated return to Sky Sports was confirmed on Sunday morning, much to the delight of football fans.
Despite the difficulties he experienced with both Valencia and England of late, Neville’s views on football have always been interesting and insightful and his return is a welcome one ahead of the new Premier League season.
His return, of course, means that he’ll also be reunited with his old Monday Night Football sparring partner Jamie Carragher, with whom he developed a great chemistry during their time on air together in the past.
Sky’s statement suggests that Neville might not be a regular fixture on MNF this season but the partnership will definitely be renewed at some stage, which led to some great exchanges on Twitter on Sunday morning.
Whilst away- I lost a few games but you lost half a million viewers and a presenter!! https://t.co/LdeC7K6517

Left me for a 6 month fling now you come crawling back for forgiveness! Can we analyse the 'FEW' games on MNF?!!! https://t.co/eu7CpcOLnu

Interesting as it would be to see Neville having to analyse some of the more difficult games of his Valencia reign (the 7-0 defeat to Barcelona perhaps?), we can’t see it happening somehow.
Still, it’s going to be great to have the pair of them back together.
Plenty more of this in the 2016/17 season hopefully…
