‘I want to win titles, to play for something’

Paul Pogba has admitted it is “sad” that Manchester United have gone without silverware since 2017 as he remained coy on his future.

The French midfielder, who returned to Old Trafford for a club-record £89m in 2016, has been linked with a move away from the Red Devils in the summer, with Real Madrid, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain touted as potential destinations.

The 29-year-old is set to leave United for free at the end of the season, however, Pogba has insisted that no decision has been made on his next move.

Pogba says ‘nothing is decided’ regarding his future

“Nothing is decided on my future, there is nothing done,” he told Telefoot.

“I can decide tomorrow, as I can decide during the transfer window. I want to come back, finish the season well.”

He added: “The season is not over yet, but almost because we don’t have any more titles to play for. I want to win titles, to play for something and this year and the last few years we haven’t won a title. It’s sad.”

United have gone trophyless since winning the Europa League and Carabao Cup in 2017 and have not won the Premier League since 2013.

Pogba has struggled to settle into a position at Old Trafford since returning from Juventus, often being deployed in different areas as managers attempt to help him rediscover the form he showed in Italy.

The midfielder has made 23 appearances this season – registering one goal and nine assists – but has missed several games through injury.

What has Ralf Rangnick said about Pogba?

However, interim manager Ralf Rangnick has insisted that there is no issue with the Frenchman’s contract situation.

He said previously: “The question is how much does he still want to be a part of this group? How much does he still feel emotionally and physically on board? As long as this is the case, why shouldn’t Paul Pogba [play] now after two and half months of injury, fully fit again now?

“By the way, my contract as a manager is also expiring in the summer. For us we have the same goal. We have the same ambition to be as successful as we can possibly be in the next three or four months.”

United return to action after the international break when they host Leicester City in the Premier League on Saturday April 2.
