The offer comes after Hennessey show a “lamentable degree of ignorance” on fascism and the Nazi regime
A Polish Crystal Palace fan has offered to take Wayne Hennessey to visit the death camps in Poland used during the Nazi regime.
This comes after the goalkeeper was cleared of making an offensive gesture by the FA after a photograph was uploaded to Max Meyer’s Instagram story that appeared to show Hennessey performing a Nazi salute.
Hennessey claimed the photo was badly timed and he was trying to get a waiter’s attention. The FA charged the Welshman before clearing him of any wrongdoing after he showed a “lamentable degree of ignorance” on the topic of fascism and Nazi Germany.
Supposedly, he did not know who Adolf Hitler was.
During Friday’s press conference ahead of Palace’s meeting with Arsenal on Sunday, Roy Hodgson said Hennessey was “desperate to learn more” about the Nazis and the history of fascism.
“Together, the club and Kick It Out, we will sort it out, certainly where Wayne is concerned because he is actually very desperate now to learn as much as he can,” Hodgson said.
And now, he has the perfect opportunity, after @CPFC_Polska offered to send Hennessey to visit the death camps in Poland where millions of Jewish people were killed during the Holocaust to help with his education. They even offered to pay for the trip.
