He wanted her phone, but instead he got a beating
A would-be robber found out last weekend that it’s an awful idea to target a professional fighter.
UFC strawweight Polyana Viana handed out a well-deserved beating to the man who attempted to steal her mobile phone in Rio de Janeiro on Saturday night.
Viana was not intimidated by the man’s threats nor his claim that he was armed as the 26-year-old dished out some painful justice to the criminal.
The Brazilian fighter used the same technique against the thief that she used in her successful UFC debut last year as she cinched up a rear naked choke and waited for law enforcement to arrive.

“When he saw I saw him, he sat next to me,” Viana told MMAJunkie. “He asked me the time, I said it, and I saw he wasn’t going to leave. So I already moved to put my cell phone in my waist. And then he said, ‘Give me the phone. Don’t try to react, because I’m armed.’ Then he put his hand over [a gun], but I realised it was too soft.
“He was really close to me. So I thought, ‘If it’s a gun, he won’t have time to draw it.’ So I stood up. I threw two punches and a kick. He fell, then I caught him in a rear naked choke. Then I sat him down in the same place we were before and said, ‘Now we’ll wait for the police.’”
There you have it, folks. Not all heroes wear capes. Some wear 4oz. gloves.
