The days of every Premier League game being broadcast as part of your usual package are over
This weekend, the Premier League’s pay-per-view scheme kicks in, meaning some games will cost an extra £14.95.
You’d think that with thousands of season ticket holders across the country still paying for their tickets that they probably won’t be able to use, the Premier League and their broadcast partners would accept showing every Premier League game in a different time slot as part of the standard, already extortionate package we all pay for.
Wrong. Football’s greed knows no bounds and now, even if you pay for Sky and BT already, you might still have to pay an extra £14.95 to watch your team play this weekend.
The time slots that require extra payment are: 3pm on Saturday, 8pm on Saturday, 12pm on Sunday, 7:15pm on Sunday, and 17:30 on Monday. So, basically, all the new slots that didn’t exist pre-pandemic during the 3pm blackout era.
That means that this weekend, the matches that will be broadcast on Sky and BT’s ‘Box Office‘ channels are:
Chelsea vs Southampton, BT Sport Box Office, Saturday 3pm
Newcastle vs Manchester United, Sky Sports Box Office, Saturday 8pm
Sheffield United vs Fulham, BT Sport Box Office, Sunday 12pm
Leicester City vs Aston Villa, Sky Sports Box Office, Sunday 7:15pm
West Bromwich Albion vs Burnley, Sky Sports Box Office, Monday 5:30pm
The rest of the Premier League matches from gameweek five, that are included in your standard packages are:
Everton vs Liverpool, BT Sport, Saturday 12:30pm
Manchester City vs Arsenal, Sky Sports, Saturday 5:30pm
Crystal Palace vs Brighton, Sky Sports, Sunday 2pmÂ
Tottenham Hotspur vs West Ham, 4:30pm Sunday
Leeds United vs Wolves, Sky Sports Monday 7:45PM
Two derbies over the weekend, what a treat. And if an Old Firm tickles your fancy, Celtic vs Rangers is also on Sky Sports on Saturday, kicking off at 12:30pm.
