PSG squad descends into ‘two camps’ with tensions high after Champions League exit

Another day, another PSG issue

PSG’s dressing room has reportedly split into two separate ‘cliques’ following their recent run of poor results and Champions League exit.

The Parisians have endured a difficult period in recent weeks, with the shock elimination from the Champions League at the hands of Real Madrid severely affecting the mood in the camp.

The defeat to Monaco at the weekend was alarming for all involved with the Ligue 1 outfit, given that Philippe Clement’s side sat seventh in the table and 21 points behind the league leaders.

PSG ‘split into two camps’

Now, as reported by RMC Sport, two camps have formed inside the squad – one which includes all the South American players and another including those that speak French.

The report adds that someone close to the squad suggested the tension between the two groups ‘blew up a bit’ as a result of their surprising defeat at the Stade Louis-II on Sunday. Additionally, it is said that no player attempted to begin an inquisition into the defeat and there was complete since in the dressing room and journey back to Paris.

Pochettino future shrouded in uncertainty

Manager Mauricio Pochettino faces a tough task to keep his players motivated for the remainder of the season, given that the club boast a 12-point lead over second-place Marseille in the league and have already been knocked out of the Champions League and French Cup.

The former Tottenham Hotspur boss, whose future in France is also uncertain, suggested that the Parisians have to find ‘common ideas and visions’ in order to move forward.

He said: “We are in a situation where we have to ask ourselves with the club and find the best way to help PSG.

“Several people are involved in a club like PSG, so we have to find common ideas and visions.”

PSG face-off against Lorient on April 3 in their first match back after the international break.
