Kheira Hamraoui was repeatedly hit in the legs with an iron bar
Paris Saint-Germain women’s Aminata Diallo has been released without charge by French police investigating an attack on her team-mate Kheira Hamraoui.
The midfielder was arrested for reportedly hiring two men to attack a teammate who plays in the same position as her.
French outlet L’Equipe reported that the 26-year-old hired two men to attack Hamraoui – who plays in the same position for both PSG and the French national team – so that she would be ruled out of contention.
On 4 November, Diallo was driving Hamraoui home when two masked men dragged the 31-year-old out of the car while in possession of iron bars.
It was then reported that one of the men repeatedly hit her in the legs with the iron bar before both left the scene.
As a result of the attack, Hamraoui was hospitalised and missed PSG’s Champions League game against Real Madrid, requiring stitches in her legs and hands for the injury.
Diallo – who started the game – was arrested with the Parisians confirming that she was in custody.
However, Diallo has since been released without charge by French police, with the Versailles prosecutor’s office not issuing any further comment on the investigation.
Additionally, a 34-year-old man, who had also been arrested in connection with the attack, has also been released by police.
In a statement released on Wednesday following Diallo’s arrest, PSG said:Â “Paris Saint-Germain strongly condemns the violence committed. Since Thursday evening November 4, the club has taken all the necessary measures to guarantee the health, well-being and safety of its players.
“Paris Saint-Germain is working with the Versailles SRPJ to shed light on the facts. The club is attentive to the progress of the procedure and will study the follow-up to be given to it.”
The French midfielder joined PSG in 2016 and has made more than 60 appearances for the club.
